On Wednesday's, We Wear Pink.

Well, you do if you're Gretchen Weiners and co. Here in Leiden, on Wednesday's (and Saturday's), wij gaan naar de markt. This is not the supermarket, mind you, this is the open air market. It takes place twice a week and is absolutely awesome to go to/look at/contemplate just how fat you can be. Vendors line up their truck along the Nieuwe Rijn and open their tent-like tops to reveal all the goodies inside. You can get pretty much anything: brood (bread), kaas (cheese), vis (fish), kip (chicken), groente (vegetables), en fruit. And if that's not enough to entice you, wait, there's more! You can also get clothing, toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner, make up...you name it, it's probably at the open air market. And it's awesome.

What's also awesome is helicopters. One flew over head and everyone stopped and stared. Like no one had ever seen one before. Then I discovered blocked off streets and police. I still don't know what happened...exciting stuff, I know.
